Councillor Malcolm Pritchard. Mayor of Hyndburn. We just seem to be getting busier and busier in the Mayor’s office. We’ve been lucky enough to meet lots of wonderful people again this month. Irene and I travelled to Warrington to join the other Mayor’s of Lancashire at the Duke of Lancaster ’s Annual Service of Remembrance which was very moving. The Accrington Lions Charter evening was a really good night and a big thank you goes to the Lions for donating £100 to the Mayor’s charity on the night. We attending the Accrington and Rossendale College awards evening on the 12th October and it was great to see the young people of Hyndburn getting some recognition for their hard work. The charity committee continued to work hard to raise money for our chosen charities. The final amount raised on the Race night was a whopping £800! The Ceilidh night at St Christopher’s High School was a great family night out. Many thanks to Rainbow Gallery of Queen Street, Great Harwood for sponsoring the event. The Christmas Extravaganza on the 4th December is getting bigger and bigger. We now have real reindeer coming into the town centre to parade. They will be outside the market hall all afternoon and there will be opportunities for photos in Santa’s sleigh. Throughout the day in Accrington Town Hall stall holders from around the county will be selling their beautiful gifts and handmade goods. There will be jewellery, art, make up, homeware, Christmas stationary and handmade cards, food and much more. Entry is free so make sure you come down and get some really individual gifts this year.
