PATTERN Fancy pants soakers
Rows 2 to 24 (28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48): Ch1 (does not count as st), dc-blo in each st across, turn. (7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9 sts) Fasten off , leaving a tail of a few inches (this will be used to seam the leg ribbing together later).
MAIN BODY (Worked in rounds)
Foundation chain and round 1: With MC, fdc 60 (70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120). Round 2: Sl st in fi rst dc to join, pm, dc in same st and in each st to end. (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120 sts)
Ignoring sl st, begin crocheting in a spiral. To help keep track of rounds, move the stitch marker up as your work progresses. Rounds 3-10: Dc in each st around.
LEG HOLE (Worked in rows) Row 11: Turn work. Ch1, dc2tog, dc in each of next 28 (33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 58) sts. Turn. (29, 34, 39, 44, 49, 54, 59 sts) Rows 12 to 20 (25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50): Ch1, dc2tog, dc to end. Turn. 1st decreased each row. 15 (18, 20, 23, 35, 28, 30) sts remain at end of Row 20 (25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50).
Rows 21 (26, 31, 36, 41, 46, 51) to 40 (45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70): Ch1, 2dc in next st, dc to end ‒ 1st increased each row. 30 (35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 sts remain at end of Row 40 (45, 50, 55, 60,65, 70). Fasten off , leaving a long tail (this will be used to seam Row 40 (45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70) to the unworked bottom edge of Round 10).
SKIRT (OPTIONAL) Foundation chain and round 1: With CC, fdc 60 (70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120), sl st in fi rst dc (does not count as st), careful not to twist, pm, dc in same st and in each st around. SEAMING Leg
Stretch leg ribbing to length of one leg hole/edge (the decrease and increase bit on the main bit of the soaker), pin in place and whipstitch evenly. Repeat for other leg.
Main body
Fold soaker at Row 20 (25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50) and whipstitch together ‒ sew foundation ch of leg ribbing to last row of leg ribbing and sew Row 40 (45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70) to the unworked bottom edge of Round 10.
Waist
Place skirt over main bit of soaker. Stretch waist ribbing to length of waist of both skirt and soaker, pin in place and whipstitch evenly, sewing waist ribbing to both skirt and soaker (this also sews the skirt to the soaker).
If you have made a soaker without the skirt, stretch waist ribbing to length of waist of soaker, pin in place and whipstitch evenly. Weave in all ends.
