PATTERN Mosaic bag


Play around with contrasting colours to


really make this mosaic stitch pattern pop!


before treble just made, miss st behind top of tr, 1dc in next st*. Repeat from * to * until 2sts remain at end of row. 1dc in each of last 2sts.


Count sts to make sure the stitch count is still the same.


Row 8: As row 2 (with CC). Repeat rows 5-8.


Pattern STARTS


FRONT AND BACK (MAKE 2) With MC, work 33ch.


Work straight in Mosaic stitch for a total of 44 rows.


There are 33sts in every row. There will be 8 Xs per row of MC and 7 of CC. Last stripe is MC.


Work one more dc row in MC. Fasten off .


STRAP (MAKE 1) With MC, work 208ch. Work 5 rows of dc. Fasten off .


Join yarn to exposed loops of starting ch. Work a further 5 rows of dc.


The strap is 208 stitches long and 10 rows wide.

Sew short sides of strap together. Position the seam of strap so that it is in the centre bottom of the front piece, at the bottom. Starting from the strap seam and centre bottom of the front piece, sew the strap to the front piece so that the strap forms the base and sides of the bag. Then sew the other side, starting with the back piece. Leave the top edge open.


FLAP


Work dc back and forth for 11 rows over top centre 13sts at top of the back section of the bag, starting from RS. Next row: Work 1dc in each of fi rst 5sts,


32 | INSIDE Crochet 3ch, miss 3sts, 1dc in each of last 5sts. Next row: Work 1dc in


each of fi rst 5sts, 3dc in 3-ch space, 1dc in each of last 5sts (buttonhole made). Work two more rows of dc, ending with a RS row. Fasten off .


With CC, work 1 row of dc around fl ap.


FINISHING Weave in all ends.


Sew a 22mm button to the front of bag, lined up with the buttonhole in the fl ap.
