American Government
This course is designed to teach students the roles of government at local, state, and national levels. Students will learn about the development of the United States Federal System of government, the importance of the "checks and bal- ances" system, the functions of each of the branches of government and the in- volvement of the federal government in world affairs. Students will also learn about the involvement of citizens in the political process.

American History
This course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of American History. The content will focus on the origins of the nation’s democratic principles and continue through present day domestic and foreign issues that af- fect American society.
There will be a particular emphasis on the individu- als and groups that have not only been impacted by the nation’s development but those who have made contributions as well. Students will utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they participate in interactive discussions and complete assignments establishing real-world connections.
