Accounting
Through this course, students will gain a foundation in the skills needed for college accounting courses, office work, and managing their own small businesses. These skills are necessary for any student planning to major in Business in college. In this Introduction to Accounting Course, students who have never had prior accounting training are given an overview of the three forms of Accounting: Financial, Cost and Management Accounting. The course helps build an appreciation for the role of accounting in managing a profitable business. It covers the basic concepts, con- ventions and rules of the dou- ble entry system. It introduces techniques to analyze ratios from the balance sheet. The concepts of ethics, integrity, confidentiality, and rigor are woven through all the chap- ters.

Business Law
This course introduces the topics of business and personal law. As students be- come familiar with these underlying concepts, they will gain a better understand- ing of the importance of the law in general. They will also learn about specific laws that are likely to be relevant to them. This foundation will include a survey of crimi- nal law, civil law, and procedural law. With this background, students are then ready to consider the contract, which provides basic rules that we can all use to de- fine our private rights and duties.
