AP Physics B
AP Physics is a yearlong introduction to the algebra-based major areas of physics:
mechanics fluids waves optics
electricity Magnetism modern physics (atomic and nuclear).
Students learn to think like scientists: making predictions based on observations, writing hypothesis, designing and completing experiments, and reaching conclu- sions based on the analysis of data derived from these experiments. Students ap- ply the concepts of physics to their everyday experiences and current events and issues in science and engineering. The course provides opportunities for guided in- quiry and student-centered learning to foster critical thinking skills.
Students will get an understanding of the core principles involved and learn to ap- ply these principles in the solution of problems.
Lab component included. Some labs require the use of household items or readily available, low-cost items.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Physics, Algebra 2, Geometry and Trigo- nometry
