Ask Dr. Kelley…

Living a Joyful Life

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in

some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

~Marianne Williamson

I love this quote. It is one of my fa- vorites because it is my passion to en- courage and inspire people to become a “lighthouse”, to shine their light and to be true to themselves. To me, living a joyful life means being true to your- self; true to explore your passions, find your purpose and live your heart’s de- sires. We all have within us this source that contains our purpose for living. A purpose that when we allow our self to dream it, makes us come alive and makes our heart swell. A desire that fuels our passion, fulfills a need within us and feels incredibly energizing and natural. Our source within drives us forward and directs us every step of the way towards that purpose. We all recognize those feelings, don’t we? We know what it feels like when we are “plugged in” and living with joy and passion; life feels easy, effortless, and full of hope and joy. We experience coincidences, opportunities and “aha” moments. We also recognize when we are “unplugged”, feeling down and living our life in the mindset of other people or “should’s”.

Each and every day we have a choice to give ourselves a permission slip to live our life in these “aha” moments, ex- periencing synchronicities, “windows of opportunity” and joyful events. We

just have to change our mind. Gary Zukav writes in The Seat of the Soul, “When we align our thoughts, emo- tions, and actions with the highest part of ourselves, we are filled with enthusiasm, purpose and meaning…” Joy is found in the enthusiasm, the purpose and the meaning. The key is being true to your self. When your life is on course with living true to your- self, you are your most powerful. Take control of your life, your course and your future by getting in your Driver’s Seat today. Live your life on purpose and be true to yourself, this is the way to living a joyful life.

Q: Hi Dr. Kel, I can’t seem to get out of my own way. This has been

going on for a while and I’ve heard that you look at health issues in an “out of the box” kind of way. My problem is common, a right sprained ankle that won’t fully heal, but I can’t get it out of my mind that I keep making it worse on an unconscious level. I feel like I am just wandering through live, living in “neutral” and feel unfulfilled. Just wanted to ask if you had any advice? Thanks so much! Jane, MN

A: Hi Jane! Believe it or not, this is a common feeling and a much more

common injury. When you have an ankle injury that won’t go away this

may indicate “standing in a situation that you don’t like, but haven’t moved forward from”. The situation can be a relationship, a job, a living environment or even a negative thought pattern. I say “haven’t moved forward from” because YOU have complete control over this. Nobody can make you stay in a relationship, a job or a living environment and nobody can think your thoughts but yourself. You create your inner and outer environment. Go ahead and write down on a piece of paper what situations you are in right now that are making you feel less than good. Then list some idea’s that can move you forward toward living more true to yourself and your hearts desires. This exercise will help provide you some direction, feel like you are in “drive” and help you feel more fulfilled. Many blessings! Dr. Kel
