The Ringside Bar and Lounge (cur-

rently leased and operated by Olympic boxing bronze medalist Dale Walters) accommodates hungry exercisers and offers a wide variety of fresh, fast and wholesome meals for its health-con- scious customers. The staff is comprised of 25 hard-

working individuals who are all equipped with at minimum BCRPA cer- tification; many possess kinesiology degrees. Manager Robin Russell has a formidable 25 years of experience in the industry. The staff’s main sales strat- egy focuses on developing relationships with members and meeting and sur- passing their expectations and goals. BCAC’s web site thoroughly ex-

plains all of the club’s features and classes and allows browsers to take a 360 degree tour through the facil- ity. All prices are posted for potential members’ convenience, and the site

much of its success to word of mouth advertising and client referrals. But it has dabbled in many other mediums including direct mail, e-mail cam- paigns and print ads in area directories. One of the most important strategies it has harnessed is corporate employ- ee wellness programs. Just one lunch meeting that spreads the word about fitness and health can result in several new members from a single company. The family mentality at BCAC is

prevalent with many staff members enjoying long and successful ca- reers at the centre. Liaising with club members is encouraged and has even lead to several staff members work- ing for clients’ businesses. Regular so- cial events keep its members happy, and they often double as fundrais- ing events for athletic-minded chari- ties. Just recently BCAC hosted the Halloween Open, the largest squash tournament in western Canada. FBC
