he Canadian Society for Exercise Physiol- ogy (CSEP) is dedicated to transfer and ap- plication of knowledge and research related

to exercise physiology (physical activity, fitness, health, nutrition, epidemiology, and human per- formance). CSEP Certified Personal TrainerTM

Must have a minimum two years of college diplo- ma or University degree coursework, CPR, first- aid, provide 25 hours of experience, written and practical exam. The CSEP CPT possesses a lev- el of competency that establishes the “minimum standard” for personal training practices in Can- ada. The CSEP CPT is qualified to work with “ap- parently healthy” persons and provide general in- formation on various aspects of physical activity/ exercise, eating and lifestyle habits, to prescribe individual exercise programs, and to administer specified health-related fitness assessment pro- tocols. Advanced level: CSEP Certified Exercise PhysiologistTM

Possess a university degree with a

specialization in both health/performance-relat- ed physical activity/exercise science fitness appli- cations for non-clinical and clinical populations. May perform assessments, prescribe conditioning exercise, supervision/monitoring, healthy lifestyle education/counselling, and outcome evaluation for “apparently healthy” individuals, athletes and/ or populations with medical conditions, children, aging, functional limitations for the purposes of improving health, function, work or sport perfor- mance. Candidates must have CPR, first-aid, writ- ten and practical examination. CSEP Certified Fit- ness Professionals receive a nationally-recognized professional certificate from a non-profit scientif- ic research organization, insurance, newsletters, and opportunities to participate in regional/na- tional conferences/symposia. The Dianne Miller Pilates Teacher Education Pro- gram was developed by Dianne Miller beginning in 1986 to provide a structured approach to Pilates teacher education. The curriculum concentrates on the Pilates method in relation to functional movement, balancing stabilization with mobility. Ten 17-hour Theory Modules provide exercise the- ory and analysis, and emphasize teaching the indi- vidual, not simply the form of the exercise. Current biomechanical theory is applied to original Pilates repertoire for the most up-to-date approach to Pi- lates teacher training. Application is open to: • advanced students and Pilates teachers for

comprehensive teacher training • Pilates teachers as continuing education.

Prerequisites include basic anatomy and knowl- edge of the prerequisite Pilates repertoire. Level One (Pilates Mat Work and Reformer) re-

quires: - Theory Modules 1 - 6 + 20 hours semi- nars + final examination. Level Two (Pilates Mat Work and Apparatus) re-

quires: Theory Modules 1 - 10 + 20 hours seminars + final examination. Comprehensive teacher train- ing diplomas require additional internships of 480 - 600 hours, subject to acceptance and ongoing review. Theory Modules: Must be taken in sequence,

with a second audit at no additional charge within 2 years. Modules may be applied to a Dianne Miller diploma program, or, may be taken independently. Letters of attendance are available upon request. Titles Earned: Comprehensive Teacher Training:
