Tourism talk
“Mauritius had a great start to 2015 - we saw a rise of over 30% in UK arrivals from January to March – while
year-on-year fi gures show that March 2015 outperformed March 2014 by a staggering 47.2%. “We’re concentrating tourism efforts to attract visitors during our low season (May to September) and to appeal to families. “MTPA UK will be hosting a UK roadshow in June which will cover new regions and ensure those on the travel frontline have the tools and knowledge required to convert bookings. We’ll also be returning to the World Travel Market in November, and we’re starting to invite agents to our quarterly ‘MUM’s (Mauritius United Members) the Word’ events. “We’ll be focusing on the increasing need to strengthen the identity of the destination, giving it a sense of place, and promoting its lesser- known assets, including the island’s rich heritage, unusual wildlife, varied traditions and culture.” Dr Karl Mootoosamy, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority
