come into your lives. However, with space becoming
an increasingly scarce commodity, the practice of modern day feng shui requires us to be more skillful in finding ways to create good feng shui space. We are thus increasingly dependent on the spiritual dimensions of feng shui. Many people regard this kind of feng shui as ‘magical’- involving symbols, images and representations that transcend the different levels of cosmic space. Perhaps magic is indeed the right word to describe the cosmic

THE MAIN DOOR Tis is one of the great secrets of the old Masters who are fully cognizant of the invisible power of cosmic symbols of good fortune. It is only in recent years that the power of mandalas has burst upon the world’s consciousness, popularized by the lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Within the Mandala are the eight auspicious symbols, the seven royal emblems that comprise the Queen,

flow of chi that channels celestial-type energies into our living spaces. Placing different objects to interact with the energies of space and time dimensions works such wonders both at suppressing bad energies and at enhancing good ones. In the feng shui art of placement, we make extensive use of pagodas and stupas, powerful receptacles of concentrated chi energies. We also use auspicious brass mirrors, multi-level mandalas and symbols and syllables that dissolve all varieties of negative vibrations.
NEVER PLACE A BIG PIECE OF FURNITURE IN A SMALL SPACE… … especially if the room is confined and there are no large windows to visually enlarge the space. Furniture selection must always be balanced vis a vis the size of the space. Avoid heavy-looking furniture that requires the luxury of wide spaces. A big piece in a small space simply becomes a “feng shui monster” in your room! Likewise, it is NOT a good idea to place too many pieces of small-sized furniture in a big room. Tere must always be one or two anchor pieces. It is important to be mindful of balance!

bring fulfillment of all aspirations, the central mountain that is Mount Meru, the four continents and also the sun and the moon. Above them all is the Dharmachakra wheel, which signifies all the knowledge of the Universe – all the things anyone can possibly wish for to live a truly fulfilling life. The auspicious symbols are placed on concentric circles that build up to become a symbolic “mountain”. How can such a collection of auspiciousness not

excellent energies into your living space using the Art of Placement to position furniture, lucky symbols and holy objects within the home, while making use of colours, shapes and art that attract good chi. Just as we can all be seduced into a state of happiness each time we see or smell something that pleases us, so too can the cosmic chi of the Universe be seduced to enter into our homes.

CREATE A SPACE THAT ACTS AS THE BRIGHT HALL Tis is usually the small void area of the living room where most people place a coffee table that covers the whole space. Tis is not a good idea unless there is some empty space that acts as a place for the chi to settle. Te key is to place side-tables next to sofas and sitting chairs, and if you want a center coffee table, make sure it is not so large as to completely cover the “bright hall” of your living room.
attract good fortune into your living abode? The presence of these wonderful things acts like a magnet for the good chi to flow inwards. At the same time, it is also an offering to the Gods,
Buddhas and Deities you may or may not also have invited into your space.
Tis is what I have done for the
foyer into my living area. Shown here is a close-up of my mandala offering to demonstrate how you can place it on a coffee table facing the front door. My mandala set comprises beautiful
replicas of all the symbols made in a golden finish, simply because anything golden is always auspicious. On the “ground” signified by a special lacquer tray, I have scattered jewels and other lucky objects such as cowry shells for prosperity and fertility, lapis globes to gain a highly-acclaimed good name, emerald crystals for asset wealth accumulation, a lapis elephant for protection, and various other lucky things given to me by friends and family, things I cherish and love.
