he Indian Ocean is one of the world’s in-demand destinations with operators reporting strong demand for 2014/15.
Sales for Mauritius and Sri Lanka are up 12% and 15% respectively year on year at Western & Oriental, with General Manager Matthew Rushbrooke citing “fantastic offers and all- inclusives” for the former and “demand for cultural tours” for the latter. “Seychelles remains the same year on year for us, whilst we have actually seen sales for the Maldives dip slightly this year, mainly because there are fewer all-inclusive options on offer,” he added. Diane Court, Head of Trade Sales at Destinology,
notes strong last-minute business for Seychelles and Mauritius and predicts further growth for Mauritius after Emirates goes double-daily on its A380 service from December 1 2014. Meanwhile, early booking offers at high-end Maldives resorts such as Reethi Rah, W Retreat,

Niyama and Jumeirah, from free half-board to free nights, mean for those seeking luxury it’s more affordable than ever. “For Sri Lanka we’ve seen a growth in tours, while in the Seychelles we are seeing more customers booking a two- or three-island holiday, as it is so easy to island hop,” added Court. “For the Maldives, all-inclusive resorts like Constance Moofushi and Atmosphere Kanifushi

are selling well but we’ve also seen growth in our family business, at resorts likeLux, Centara and Lily Beach.” All-inclusive and family holiday sales are also up
at Travel2. “Both are well catered for in Mauritius, which is preforming well,” commented Product Manager, Michael Creighton. “The Seychelles is also up year on year as we’ve contracted more hotels that now cater for all budgets.” Elegant Resorts has run fam trips to Mauritius and Seychelles this year, with a luxury Maldives fam on the cards, plus the majority of its reservations team visited the region last year. “We’ve seen signifi cant growth to Mauritius
this year and it’s the fi ve-star hotels that have maintained rates and not taken an aggressive approach to offers that are performing better for us,” said Senior Product Manager Tara Taylor, who added: “I am confi dent we will see this growth continue.”
