IT’S OFFICIAL: BERMUDA HAS THE X FACTOR
BERMUDA will fi nd itself showcased on the small screen when the latest series of The X Factor airs in the UK on ITV and ITV2 between September and December. The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) partnered with Fairmont Hotels to bring judge Louis Walsh and his aspiring ‘groups category’ acts to the mid-Atlantic island for fi lming of the ‘Judges’ House’ section of the show. Commented Walsh before his arrival on the island for the fi rst time: “Not only have I got the strongest category this year but by far the best destination. Bermuda has been on my to do list for quite some time so this is a trip of a lifetime.” The head of the BTA, Bill Hanbury, was equally excited to welcome the show to Bermuda. “Hosting The X Factor Judges’ Houses is a fantastic platform to introduce a new generation to Bermuda. “Bermuda will match the excitement of the show with the island’s energy and inspiring
locations...The X Factor will show off Bermuda to nearly 10 million viewers in the UK, our top European feeder market. “This is one of the many initiatives BTA has in place for Bermuda to reach its tourism goals,” Hanbury added.

supporting the Foundation, which runs sustainable tourism projects in holiday destinations across the world, by providing sponsorship as well as in-kind support for travel and accommodation. Since it was founded in 2003, the
Travel Foundation has generated over £1 million in local income across its projects in 14 countries. For example, in Mexico it set up a project to protect the endangered Melipona bee, which had suffered a 93% decrease in the number of hives following the development of tourist facilities in the area.
