KEC’s New Building Addition Nears Completion KEC has been busy with the construction of a new building which will serve as a storage and maintenance unit for the company’s trucks, allowing for more storage space and getting equipment out of the elements. “A lot of people aren’t aware of all of the oil activity out there and that we are in the midst of another oil boom”, Kay Electric’s CEO Tim Ro- driguez said, “KEC is involved with assisting these sites with their electrical needs, especially

the large horizontal drilling units. These loads require an enormous amount of electric- ity. We have had to “gear up” to service these loads requiring heavier construction and equip- ment.” Tim continues, “some think that we’re building new offices and will be hiring addi- tional employees and this isn’t so, but the new facility will be a huge assistance to us when emergencies happen like major outages.”

KEC acquired our existing facilities in 1996 and subse- quently gutted and renovated the structure. “Importantly, we want it to look nice and en- hance this part of town. It will be painted our traditional blue color and have nice landscap- ing in front,” according to Ro- driguez. Work on the structure began in April, but slowed when it started raining. Rodriguez expects the project to be com- pleted by the end of Septem- ber.
