annual meeting ■ Encumbent Trustees Retain Seats

At the close of the Choctaw Electric Cooperative’s candidate filing period on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, three candidates filed their intent to run for re- election to the Choctaw Electric Cooperative board of trustees.

The three candidates are:

Mike Bailey, District B Bob Hodge District C Bob Holley, District G.

Each of the three candidates are currently serving on the Choctaw Electric board of trustees. Because no other candidates filed for the election, the incumbent trustees will retain their positions for a three year term of office.

Choctaw Electric service territory is divided into nine districts. Cooperative members elect representatives from their district to serve on the CEC board. Cooperative bylaws require board members to live on Choctaw Electric lines and be a co-op member.

For complete details concerning your cooperative nominating and election procedure, please refer to your Choctaw Electric bylaws. A copy of the co-op bylaws is available online at www.choctawelectric.coop, or contact your co-op office at 800-780-6486.

Meeting To Focus on Business Members should expect changes in meeting format

Choctaw Electric Cooperative members who plan to attend the CEC Annual Meeting on September 27, 2014, should not expect the “same old, same old.” To save money and focus more attention on business aspect of the meeting, CEC is eliminating some of the activities that took place during the event.

For instance, there will be no retail booths at the upcoming meeting. Fewer gifts will be given away, with two prize drawing rounds taking place during the meeting instead of three.

While the festival-like atmosphere of previous meetings will be noticeably lacking, members who attend

will still enjoy live musical entertainment prior to the business meeting. Sandwiches and snacks will be served, and the always-popular, inflatable slide and bounce house will be located inside the covered arena to keep the young ones entertained during the meeting.

One lucky winner will take home a $1,500 grand prize. There will also be a bicycle giveaway and iPod drawing for kids .

Be sure to register when you arrive at the meeting. Registration makes you eligible for prize drawings. You’ll also receive a “goodie” bag with free gifts. See you there!
