CEO VIEW

Power of Membership BY JACK L. PERKINS

Now, as always, it’s a good time to be a member of an electric cooperative.

Not only are cooperatives locally owned and controlled—by you, our members—they are locally run to serve your needs.

While many electricity consumers pay power bills to utilities that answer to far-away stockholders who demand a healthy profit every quarter, local members are in control at electric cooperatives like ours. Cooperatives aren’t under pressure to keep rates high enough to generate big profits. Instead, cooperatives try to keep your bill as low as possible while providing high-quality service. Cooperatives invest money in excess of operating costs back into the business locally or return the excess (known as margins) to you in the form of patronage capital.

Continued on page three TWO LUCKY MEMBERS ENROLLED IN AUTOPAY WILL WIN A CREDIT FOR $250 ON THEIR ELECTRIC BILL.

„ Saves money - no check, postage or late fees

„ Improves credit - builds history of timely payments

„ Environmentally friendly

Two lucky members enrolled in AutoPay at the end of the year will win a credit for $250 on their February electric bill. Giveaway details are posted online at www.tcec.coop.

TCEC also offers Levelized billing to make the amount of a member’s monthly bill more consistent. Te total annual cost for electricity remains the same, but members receive a more consistent bill each month. Combining this option with AutoPay can help with budgeting.

Members who don’t need a paper statement can choose paperless billing. Tey will receive an email when their statement is ready to view online. Past statements are also available through the online portal for up to 18 months.

Members can enroll in AutoPay, Levelized billing and paperless billing via the Member Solutions Online Portal at www.tcec.coop or by calling TCEC Member Services at 580-652-2418. „
