In addition to the WEC programme, which the company runs on behalf of TOYOTA Motor Corporation in Japan, TMG will also remain dedicated to running bespoke customer motorsport programmes, including the popular TMG GT86 Cup in Germany.
The first motorsport competition in the world dedicated exclusively to the TOYOTA GT86, the Cup will once again see drivers take on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. The TMG GT86 Cup is run as part of the
TMG’s development of the GT86 CS-V3 race car for the TMG GT86 Cup has also paved the way for the company’s foray back into the world of rallying, with the GT86 CS-R3. Drawing from the company’s experience in developing the GT86 CS-V3, TMG’s engineers have modified the base car to adhere to R3 rally regulations. Private customers can expect delivery in 2015 and the car will be eligible for all FIA-sanctioned rallies up to and including the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
The decision to produce a new rally car reaffirms TMG’s commitment to customer motorsport and to rallying, both of which represent key aspects of its long-term business strategy. The launch of the Yaris R1A and TMG’s ongoing development of a Global Race Engine ensure the company is expanding and strengthening its knowledge of rallying, drawing on its proud history in the sport that lead to TMG’s creation 35 years ago.
