course’, into more space for exhibitors. “We are seeing excellent registration

figures and are on course for record levels again this year,” said Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann and Eurobike Head Stefan Reisinger, In total, more than 1,200 exhibitors and 40,000 industry visitors from around the world are expected at Eurobike 2014. Germany’s challenger to Eurobike – ISPO

Bike – was cancelled after last year’s show in Munich. The show failed to make a dent in Eurobike’s popularity or steal share. ISPO is instead welcoming the bike trade to its other more established shows. Eurobike has already confirmed dates for the 2015 edition, so you might want to blank out Wednesday August 26th to Saturday August 29th 2015. www.eurobike-show.com

LIVE STREAMING of cycle sporting events is being adopted more widely by global and UK races. Both FACE partnership – organiser of

the Revolution Series – and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) have turned to YouTube to expand their respective audiences and bring cycle racing to a wider number of consumers. The London finale of the Revolution

Series, taking place March 15th, will be streamed live on YouTube, with hour-long highlights on BT Sport. The Revolution Series Elite Championship will conclude with Team Sky, Rapha Condor JLT and Rudy Project RT battling for the title. FACE Partnership MD James Pope said:

“We wanted to do something extra for this special event, and make sure the action is available to watch for as many people as possible.

“There’s a significant global audience

for Revolution Series considering the international rider line-ups, so YouTube is the perfect place to show it.” Meanwhile the UCI Track World Championships last month reached cycle fans in a whopping 100 territories thanks to streaming via YouTube and expanded broadcast relationships. The improved reach of the world champs, that took place in Cali,

Colombia, reached the Indian sub- continent and Malaysia for the first time, with 30 media companies partnering. UCI President

Brian Cookson commented: “Whilst strong results were already

achieved in the first year of our partnership, the collaboration with Infront is now realising its full potential. “Jointly, we have secured more live

broadcast partners than ever before for the UCI Track World Championships, meeting fan demand and establishing a sustainable presence on screens across the world.” There’s more on the topic and the Revolution Series too over on page 47.
