Hurra, Gut Fest! German Feast offers authentic foods and crafts


to enjoy a gastronomical feast that celebrates the community's German

n February 1, residents of Corn will invite visitors


heritage with authentic food and arts and crafts.


The German Feast and Auction begins at 10 am when homemade baked goods including pies, cakes, schnetka (a German pastry), candies and German sausage will be available.


Meanwhile, visitors are encouraged to bid on gift certificates, gift baskets, handmade toys, quilts and other handcrafted items entered in the silent auction. Homemade breads, jellies, rolls, cakes and pastries will also be available for purchase.

At 11:30 am lines begin forming for a German feast that serves up savory favorites such as traditional verenika smothered in onion


gravy, and sausage and cracklins.


A live auction will begin at 12:30 pm, offering a variety of goods and services, including vacations, fishing trips, handmade quilts and afghans, sports collector items, gift baskets and plenty more.


If you missed the lunchtime banquet, don't worry: You'll have another opportunity to fill your plate. At 5 pm the German Feast and Auction continues with another feast serving up more great tasting, traditional German foods.

Notice to Contractors: Sealed bids must be delivered to Kiwash Electric Cooperative, P.O. Box 100, 120 West 1st Street, Cordell, Oklahoma 73632. Bids will not be accepted after 3:30 pm on the day of the bid. The scheduled bid opening date is February 24, 2014 at 3:30 pm Central Time, at the corporate offices of Kiwash Electric Cooperative (KEC) at 120 West 1st Street in Cordell, Oklahoma for the work listed below. The project name, “Kiwash Warehouse and Site Improvements” must be clearly marked on the face of the sealed envelope. Proposal will be reviewed following the bid opening for a complete turn-key project as specified, and awarded by the KEC Board of Directors on February 26, 2014. Proposals received after the bid opening deadline will be returned to its owner unopened.


Each separate proposal(s) shall provide a certificate of insurance with Kiwash Electric Cooperative listed as the additional insured, with the following minimums stated: General Liability, $1 million per occurrence and aggregate of $2 million; Automobile Liability, $1 million single limit; Umbrella Liability $1 million per occurrence; Workers Compensation and Employers’ Liability, $1 million per accident. Kiwash Electric listed only as “Certificate Holder” is not sufficient for this proposal.


General scope of project: The general work to be completed is to furnish, construct and install a complete steel or metal commercial building per specifications. The project shall include such site improvements as grading or leveling building location, and installing driveways, parking areas, curbing, etc. Bidders will furnish all material required to meet or exceed specifications.


Plans and specifications: Plans will be available by January 15, 2014 by calling the KEC office at 888-832-3362. Any member knowing a reputable contractor or who is interested in bidding a complete turn-key project, should call the KEC office in January to request these documents. KEC reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids.
