ABOUT THE MARKET


GERMANY is a key market for games publishers to target. The value of the nation’s games industry has remained close to the €2m mark for the past three years. German trade body BIU estimates the market has already generated €596m in revenue during the first half of 2013.


Video games became the most popular creative industry within Germany in 2010, achieving a turnover of €1.86 billion. The industry continues to maintain that position in 2013. The trade body ranks this revenue as the second highest within Europe, losing out only to Great Britain. 34.4m games were sold

event is open to both retail and consumers. This year’s show attracted a record attendance of 340,000 visitors – a 23 per cent increase on 2012.
