The Back St Heroes magazine sponsored the big top that houses the rock stage yet again. Look out for another collaboration between MAG and BSH at the custom show this September

late addition. Hang about though, these guys are good! The lead singer’s got a nice line in banter as well as a great voice and the songs are well chosen to ease the walking wounded back into the party spirit. And then I learn that they haven’t even got their own drummer with them; one of the Farmyard crew, Mick Cluderay stepped in as a last minute replacement. The tent is soon hollering for more and they deserve every bit of the ovation they eventually get. I for one would like to see them again, only further up the bill. I just wish I knew what they’re bleeding well called!

Saturday Night - Lip Up

Fatty, anyone? You’re a biker, so you love rock music, right? And everything else is crap, isn’t it? Well no, not

according to a tent-full of nutters jumping around to Skafinger on Saturday night. After the decidedly minimalist Kix last night this seven piece from Brum barely fitted on the stage and resembled more of a job creation scheme than a band. Yet they were soon blasting out such a riotous mixture of ska classics and covers that it had me bopping around with the rest. At one point I turned to see Coxy (NW rep) with a huge grin on his face, balancing two pints and dancing like a man with a shattered pelvis. (he is, Ed) And those that didn’t like it had the choice of Led Zepp in the big tent. Happy days all round! Many thanks to Rick Hulse again for his usual impeccable taste in bands.

The Farmyard has a curiously positive effect on everyone’s morale. Remember the days when lifestyle event coverage in the bike press featured everyone trying to look hard?
