Jon Wilmer road tests Auritech earplugs I found them a little awkward
My first impression of Auritech ear protectors is of a high quality product.
The packaging displays them clearly and reinforces the image of quality effectively. They are as convenient as traditional foam earplugs and while the aluminium storage tube can be hung on a keyring for convenience, I felt it was larger than really necessary. I did wonder if this meant it was an existing item re-badged for Auritech rather than custom made but still, it’s a useful addition and markedly better quality than a cheap plastic box.

to insert correctly although I suspect that’s just down to practice and my being more used to rolling up foam plugs, reducing the diameter, before putting them in. Or maybe I just have funny ears.
The surprise was that after putting them in I could still hear quite clearly. That would normally indicate they hadn’t sealed properly, so I probably fiddled about too much, at least the first couple of times I used them. However, this is exactly what they are designed to do. When out riding, I can hear the

engine clearly, I can hear traffic around me, including car horns and emergency sirens. For a motorcyclist these are vital additions to spatial awareness on the road, something which can be lost when muffled with normal ear protection. I could also hear the guy in the petrol station and I could still hear my girlfriend talking to me. OK no product is perfect.
I could still hear wind noise, which is certainly the biggest cause of discomfort on a long ride however it was muted lacking the intensity associated with not wearing ear plugs.

Maximum protection zero muffling
Premier Corporate member Auritech is a UK company with 20 years’ experience of designing custom-fit hearing protectors.
The company has just launched Auritech Biker Hearing Protectors – the most advanced hearing defence ever. Unlike traditional foam, wax or silicone earplugs Auritech Biker Hearing Protectors contain precision-tuned, patented ceramic filters. These ensure maximum protection from dangerous levels of engine, wind and road noise. Critically, the unique frequency-selective filtration process of Auritech Biker Hearing Protectors, allows conversation, sirens and horns to remain clearly audible, without the muffling effect of conventional earplugs. Auritech filters are formed with a venture-shaped sound channel from high-grade ceramic material (zirconium oxide) at very high temperature so their internal aperture surface is perfectly smooth. This results in more precise sound attenuation than with plastic filters which have
After 90 miles and an hour and a half of fast riding, I had none of the distracting buzzing in the ears that would normally remind me why I should have used some sort of ear protection. a rough, uneven channel surface.
