Located in Thurston, Neb., Thurston Manufacturing Co. has produced fertilizer application and conservation tillage equipment under the BLU-JET brand name for over 40 years. During this time, BLU-JET has been proud to be an industry leader in design innovation and quality in both product categories. Today, Thurston continues this tradition through the BLU-JET product line as well as other product lines manufactured at the facility.
BLU-JET was the fi rst to produce and market a minimum disturbance in-line sub-soiler to combat deep compaction layers within the soil profi le. SubTiller 4, the current production model, continues to be a dominate player within the sub-soiler market. BLU-JET was also the fi rst to produce and market a fertilizer injection applicator with a 60-foot swath width.
The AT6020 Commercial Class Fertilizer Applicator continues to be one of the few 60-foot applicators on the market, and is uniquely versatile in its ability to apply liquid, dry or NH3 in PrePlant, SideDress and StripTill confi gurations. More recent innovations include the BLU-JET StripTill Systems prod- uct line, which holds consecu- tive titles as No-Till Farmer’s No-Till Product of the Year in the StripTill Category; it has won the award four of the last six years. The BLU-JET AT7000 90-foot Liquid Applicator was introduced at the 2008 Farm Progress Show, and is the fi rst liquid injection applicator on the market with a 90-foot swath width.
