PROFILE Hurricane Ditcher Co. Inc. ABOUT HURRICANE DITCHER

Hurricane Ditcher Co. Inc. in Vincennes, Ind., has been family owned and operated since 1984.

Paul M. Snyder, a farmer all of his life, knew there was a need for an effi cient way of draining large areas on farm fi elds. In June of 1984, Mr. Snyder invented and introduced the fi rst Hurricane Ditcher, Model 16, a pull-type ditcher that attached to the back of a farm tractor. In October of the same year, Hurricane Ditcher Co. began in Carlisle, Ind.

While listening to customers’ varying needs, Hurricane Ditcher has developed a line of nine ditcher models for different applications. They include fi ve 3-Point Hitch models with 15-42 in. impellers, three Side-Arm models for areas the ditch cannot be straddled and the Model 24 Ditcher/Terracer.

Now, in its 29th year, Hurricane Ditcher Co. has grown from its original plant of 2,400 square feet to nearly 24,000 square feet on 23 acres with 17 employees. It is a global company with 135 dealers and equipment throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Venezuela, Suriname, Panama, Bolivia, Belize, Nigeria and Mexico.
