RETAIL ESSENTIALS: ROCKSMITH 2014 RETAIL TALKING POINTS
Rocksmithis Ubisoft’s latest music franchise, which teaches users how to play guitar and bass whilst they play.
Similar to other games in the music genre, Rocksmith’s gameplay has players mimic guitar riffs from music tracks. But unlike previous games that use peripherals, the game lets users plug in genuine instruments for use in-game using the supplied RocksmithReal Tone Cable.
Rocksmith 2014is credited as both a game and genuine training program for beginner musicians looking to enhance their guitar or bass skills. The difficulty of the game is intelligently increased as players progress.
Users will begin with a stripped and slowed down tab to mimic. But as they reach Rocksmith’s highest difficulty, they will actually be playing the genuine riff of each track.
There are over 50 tracks for players to jam to, along with over 80 individual technique lessons designed to enhance their skills.
Session mode lets players relax and practice the game’s tracks at whatever speed they wish without any pressure.
MARKETING PLAN
UBISOFT will launch a two-phase marketing campaign to support Rocksmith 2014at launch and into the Christmas period. This first phase will begin October 25th and will target core gamers across the Xbox 360 dashboard and specialist sites using video on-demand content. The publisher will roll out its second phase of activity from November 25th. Promotion will feature on music streaming service Spotify, as well as appearing across games and guitar portals. Ubisoft will also use social media activity to drive its Rocksmith 2014 ‘The fastest way to learn guitar’ campaign.
