RETAIL ESSENTIALS: WWE 2K14 RETAIL TALKING POINTS


 WWE 2K14is the new wrestling franchise from 2K Sports after the publisher acquired the WWE licence earlier this year.


 It is a direct sequel to former publisher THQ’s WWE ’13and maintains the series’ core gameplay despite undergoing a facelift to adopt 2K’s branding.


 This year’s entry boasts a variety of new and revamped features, including the game’s updated navigation system, which provides more fluid walking, running and dragging motions.


 WWE 2K14features the full roster of WWE Superstars, as well as a variety of the sport’s icons including Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant.


 A new addition in WWE 2K14is the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode, which celebrates the anniversary of the wrestling brand’s flagship event.


 The single-player campaign is made up of over 45 iconic matches from previous WrestleMania events, as well as a roster of athletes spanning across three decades of the sport.


 These matches are separated into different eras of WWE history, each uniquely presented with time- specific graphics, arenas, Superstar entrances, ring attires and on- screen filters.


 Returning in WWE 2K14is Universe mode, which casts players as the WWE general manager and lets them select their own matches, storylines and PPV event line-ups.


 New in the mode this year are custom rivalries, which let players decide when rivalries should take place and who against. Gamers can also now edit their rosters and decide their own WWE champions.

40 October 11th 2013 MARKETING PLAN


2K IS readying a marketing blitz for its first entry in its newly acquired WWEvideo game series. Activity kicked off in September with promotional TV spots running alongside WWEprogramming across Sky TV channels and marketing content appearing online via specialist wrestling outlets. The publisher will maintain this activity throughout October to ramp up its pre-launch promotion for WWE 2K14with a print campaign targeting existing WWE and wider wrestling fans, as well as existing players of theWWEgames. Ahead of the WWE 2K14’s release on November 1st, 2K will


take the game on the road for a national campaign to celebrate. The game will embark on a shopping centre tour across the UK, which will let users go hands on. 2K revealed the cover art of WWE 2K14with a special presentation during WWEshow Monday Night Raw. Superstar Dwaye ‘The Rock’ Johnson was selected to appear, who also helped design the cover.


The publisher also ran a


international cover artwork contest, which saw WWE fans create their own art. Winning artwork will be included within retail copies of the game as an alternative cover.
