GER Thomas Brazier and his wife, Venita, traveled to New Orleans, LOUISIANA, to take part in Mardi Gras as part of the Krewe of Elks Orleans, the oldest and largest truck float krewe in New Orleans. The day before the parade, the first couple toured the Elks Tomb in Greenwood Cem-
etery and visited the National WW II Museum, where they donated several bags of Mardi Gras–themed Elroy the Elk dolls to the mu- seum. They spent the evening at a banquet at the New Orleans Lodge with Elks from around Louisiana. During the banquet, the first couple was presented with a portrait of GER Brazier painted by a local artist. Also during the banquet, GER Brazier presented New Orleans Lodge Esq. Rene Landry with a plaque from the lodge’s PER Association in honor of his more than 25 years of service as esquire. Pictured are GER Brazier (right) and Esq. Landry. On Tuesday, the GER rode in the Mardi Gras Parade on the lead float of the Krewe of Elks Orleans, which consists of 110 truck floats led by the New Orleans Lodge’s float. Prior to the parade, First Lady Venita Brazier gave Elroy the Elk dolls to nearly 100 children who were awaiting the parade.
GER Thomas Brazier and his wife, Venita, traveled to Franken- muth, MICHIGAN, to attend the fall meeting of the Michigan Elks Association. During the business ses- sions, GER Brazier learned about the
Michigan Elks Gold Key Charitable Grant Fund, which provides scholarships for students with special needs who are pursuing education beyond high school. While GER Brazier was in business meetings, First Lady Venita Brazier took the opportunity to tour the city of Frankenmuth and visit a number of local craft shops, including Bronner’s, the world’s largest Christmas store. Following the confer- ence, the first couple visited Michigan’s Own Military and Space Museum. The museum’s collection of memorabilia related to Michi- gan natives who served in the US armed forces includes the largest collection of Medals of Honor in the United States. Pictured greeting GER Brazier (center) upon his arrival at MBS International Airport are Justice of the Grand Forum James Deamud (left) and State Sponsor James Varenhorst.
