Hazleton, PA, Lodge members honored the winners of their Drug Awareness Poster and Essay Contests in a ceremony at the lodge. Lodge members awarded each winner $100. The winners of the essay contest were Freeland Middle School students Brianne Will- iams (eighth grade), Addy Hartz (seventh grade), and Desiree Petrick (sixth grade). The winners of the poster contest were Freeland Elementary School student Samantha Babula (fifth grade) and Weatherly Elementary School students Luke Derr (fourth grade) and Frank Willis (third grade). Harrison-East Newark, NJ, Lodge sponsored two Harrison High School students to attend the New Jersey State Elks Association’s annual Peer Leadership Conference, which encourages young lead- ers to discover their potential by creating a clear set of goals for themselves that includes living a drug free life and inspiring others to do the same.


Oak Ridge, TN, Lodge Golf Committee made donations of $500 each to the Allies


for Substance Abuse Prevention of Anderson County and the Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition.


Arlington-Fairfax, VA, Lodge helped sponsor the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Drug Awareness Bookmark Contest. The lodge provided prizes for the top four winners in each of four divisions (high school, middle school, fourth to sixth grade, and kindergarten to third grade), and lodge members judged the more than 150 bookmark designs that were submitted by students. ■
