Ocala, Florida, Lodge Presents Winston M. Needham for Grand Esteemed Leading Knight Whereas, The officers and members of Ocala, Florida, Lodge No. 286 do recognize and appreci- ate the leadership, accomplishments, and dedicated service rendered by Winston M. Needham to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, the Florida State Elks


Association, and the Ocala, Florida, Lodge; and Whereas, He has been a member of the Order for over thirty-four years, has served his lodge diligently as a member of many commit- tees, progressed through all the chairs, was elected exalted ruler in 1985–1986, was elected to honorary life membership in 1996, was a member of three national Ritual Championship Teams in 1983, 1987, and 1995, served the Ritual Team as a member, candidate, and coach, and was named All-American coach in 1989 and 1995; and Whereas, He was recognized for his outstanding abilities and dedication to the Florida State Elks Association, serving as vice- chairman and chairman of the State Publicity and Public Relations Committee, as vice president of the North Central District in 1988– 1989, serving as a district director of the Florida State Elks Associa- tion, serving as the state chaplain in 1991–1992, serving as vice president at large in 1995–1996, and state president in 1996–1997, and serving as president of Florida Elks Charities, and as chairman of the Major Projects Committee, and currently serving as vice president of the Harry-Anna Trust Fund Board of Directors; and Whereas, He has served the Grand Lodge as district deputy of the North Central District in 1989–1990, served as a member of the Youth Activities Committee in 1997–1998, served as the administra- tive assistant to then Grand Exalted Ruler C. Valentine Bates in 1998–1999, served on the Auditing and Accounting Committee from 1999 to 2001, served on the Youth Activities Committee from 2009 to 2012, and currently serves as the Florida state coordinator for special representatives to lodges; and Whereas, His record of distinguished and dedicated service to his community and to his professional and fraternal life has been matched by his devotion to his loving wife, Karen, and their two daughters, Noelle and Regan, and their families; and
