MESSAGE FROM THE GER
Hats Off to the Ladies
In our Order, women have long volunteered and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of the lodges. And when women actually were admitted to the Order, they jumped in with both feet, serving on committees, filling officer chairs, and bringing their expertise to bear wher- ever it was needed. They have achieved notable success at the local, state, and national level, and the Elks are a better organization as a result of their outstanding efforts.

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, mater- nal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
It is celebrated on
various days in many parts of the world, but here in our country, it is celebrated in May. Mothers and grandmothers—they organize us, care for us, and truly make our house a home. Thank you for the social mores, values, and goals you have passed on to us. And to those of you who are our moms we say, “We love and appreciate you all.”
May also brings another holiday—Memorial Day, a US federal holiday that occurs every year on the final Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the US Armed Forces. This day, however, also inevitably reminds us of all those who have departed from us. As we remember those who have touched our lives over the years, be it family, friends, or deceased military members—let us also reach out to those in need today and touch their lives as a “Beacon of Hope.” God bless the men and women currently serving in, or retired from, the military services. Those who have died in service to our country made the ultimate sacrifice. Let us make the smaller sacrifice of caring, to the best of our ability, fought and died to protect.
for their descendants and families and those they Fraternally and Sincerely,
APPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of the ladies around us—in our Order, in our families, and in our world!
