“The Walks are very convivial, everyone is so chatty and friendly. I’ve met people who’ve become really good friends.”

Andrea Shaffell

Your group will likely include professionals of all stripes, as well as retired professionals and professional retirees. There will be singles of various ages mixed in among the couples of varying ages. Usually, at least one couple will be approaching a mile- stone anniversary. Some solo travelers might be here with their best friends, having left their respective non- walking spouses safely at home in Arizona or suburban Chicago. They are here because they love to walk. You’re here because you have something in common: a love of walking.

Chances are that a good percentage of your fellow walkers will be repeaters. Some will have taken a dozen or more walks with The Wayfarers. They can share their experiences about the Wayfarers walk in Sicily or the joys of walking around Prague. They can inform and even inspire, so that even if you’re walking in Devon, you’ll discover that the same sort of outdoors adventure, albeit with different scenery, is available in Switzerland, Italy and New Zealand.

The Wayfarers call repeat walkers Old Friends, while members of the Founders’ Circle have walked on at least six trips. Many of them have taken the Wayfarers up on their Bakers’ Dozen Challenge: take 12 walks and enjoy the 13th walk as their guest, free of charge.
