WPI supplies inspection line
WPI Services BV (Weighpack), based in the Netherlands, recently supplied a flexible high speed automatic inspection packing line for fasteners, with a range of M6 x 25mm up to M14 x 160mm, to Bulten Polska SA.
W
eighpack explains that the fasteners are fed from a hopper into a double head high-speed inspection and weighing machine, where portions are established between 1kg and 10kg. Due to the machine having two exits the fasteners can be packed in either KLT containers (for instance for the
automotive industry) or in boxes or plastic bags with a thickness of 100 microns. Weighpack points out that the portions made are very accurate to within an accuracy of one piece.
Using two heads
Videx Machine Engineering Ltd says that its new Videx Dual-Spindle thread rollers are designed to roll threads above and below the shoulder, with the ability for the threads to be either different or similar.
V 6.K02 W
idex explains that the two heads are independent, eliminating influence of one on the other, enabling use of simple and economical rolling dies. The advantages of using the two heads is that independent adjustments assure better quality of each thread; higher production
speeds are capable because the second operation does not slow down the machine; there is less handling, eliminating possibility of mixing parts; and the user has full control of the quality of each rolling operation. Videx highlights that additional features include both stations having
controlled thread rolling start, hydraulic clamping, zero-taper mechanism for parallel threads and micrometric thread pressure screws, as well as an AC speed controller, automatic air shut-off and two operator control panels.
Enhancing quality levels
Eldes snc di Bellotto Paolo & C. states that Statistical Process Control is the ideal way to prevent problems in manufacturing, not only enhancing quality level, but also decreasing costs, through reduction in scrap, tool damage and machine stops.
ithout using the best of the available technology, however, SPC is time consuming and subjected to human mistakes, says Eldes. It requires suitable software support and the proper system to collect measurements in an efficient and intrinsically error free mode. Eldes’ new optical station Themis 2K allows measurement of five samples at the same
time automatically including pits and holes. Parts can rotate to detect concentricity, straightness and misalignments in complex structures, threading integrity, hex across corners/flats, as well as wrench height. The basic model is used for parts with a maximum length of 36mm, a maximum diameter of 25mm, with 0.01mm resolution. A second model extends the measurement capability, using the same camera, to
150mm length and 36mm diameter, thanks to the vertical movement of the frame facing the camera. Optical measurements are managed by the THEMIS software module, integrated to the software suite Quarta®
in which control plans, job order launches and SPC analysis
are managed. Eldes recommends Themis 2K to anyone who is committed to quality improvements in their facility, saying it will drastically improve quality and efficiency.
