Over 1,000 wireless subscribers! High speed wireless gains ground in southeast Okla.

W

ith some 1,100 subscribers— and more signing on every day—Choctaw Electric

Cooperative’s (CEC) effort to bring wireless Internet service to southeast Oklahoma is proving successful. CEC and Valliant Telephone Company, made the service possible by forming a unique partnership last year that has showed no signs of slowing down.

To date the service is gaining ground across Choctaw and McCurtain counties, expanding slowly but surely into even more remote areas west of Antlers and east of Broken Bow.

While wireless Internet hasn’t reached every home in southeast Oklahoma, the service area is growing. “If it’s not in your area yet, please be patient,” said Lois Ann Beason, coordinator of the Internet program for CEC.

With a discount off the original installation price for the service, plus a zero interest loan program to help finance the remainder of the installation fee, CEC members are finding plenty of good reasons to sign up.

If you’re considering wireless Internet for your home, the following details will help you decide.

What does the service cost? The cost for MV400 3G wireless depends on which system is required for your particular installation. Prices are 29.99 per month plus tax,

or $45 per month plus tax, depending on your needs. Subscribers also pay a one time equipment cost. CEC members pay $200 or $240 for equipment; others pay $350.

CEC members with good credit may finance the equipment cost via CEC at no interest for 12 months. If you choose the finance option, loan payments will appear on your monthly electric bill as an itemized charge. You will receive a separate bill from Valliant Telephone for the Internet service.

 How to sign up Those interested in CEC financing, must fill out a loan application. Members will also need to fill out an installation and service application for Valliant Telephone.

All applications are available at CEC offices in Hugo, Antlers, and Idabel,

or download the

forms from the CEC website, www. choctawelectric.coop.

Who do I call for assistance? Valliant Telephone, 580-933-4400, handles all calls and questions concerning monthly billing, repairs, maintenance and technical support.
