A stock contrac- tor supplies the horses and bulls for the rodeo. “The Etbauers came up with a deal called Match Bronc Riding where one of the Etbauer boys or Latham would ride against whoever won the high mark ride that perfor- mance,” Stonecipher said. “There was a cash prize and if one of the Etbauer boys or Craig [Latham] won it they would donate it back to the committee. Often, if the other guy won it they would convince him to do- nate it as well.”


Stonecipher was present at the Hall of Fame induc- tion ceremony in Colo- rado Springs, Colo., this summer. He said Robert Etbauer said thanks to all the people who had helped them and all the great


friends they had made in rodeo. Stonecipher said Robert Etbauer ended his words with, “You know, we just want to say thanks for helping us make our dreams come true.”


The Etbauer brothers’ and Latham’s legacy to the next generation of rodeo cowboys is that fulfi llment of dreams.


Billy Etbauer said, “We’re trying to fulfill their [the children’s] dreams now. We help where we can and do what we can.” When asked about being a role model for the next generation of rodeo cow- boys, Latham said, “It’s an awesome responsibility.” He continued, “The kids are what it’s about now and helping them come up through the ranks. Robert has always loved helping kids and has been doing it at his place for a long time. He’s been helping with the rodeo team for years. It’s been great for the kids and great for us that he’s help-
