Awards, awards

It’s time for the industry to pat itself on the back following three highly successful and energised industry shows in Long Beach and Seattle (see IFSA, APEX and AIX reviews in this issue). The US airline industry is looking positive and resilient with plenty to celebrate in the way of awards for creativity and achievement.

Congratulations to Singapore Airlines for winning Best Food & Beverage and Virgin America for winning Best Cabin Ambiance in the Passenger Choice Awards at APEX. Norwegian was winner of Best Inflight Connectivity and Communications.

But it is the Middle East carriers who are leading the way in terms of service and new product, with awards going to Oman Air, Emirates and Etihad in this year’s World Airline Awards and Qatar named Airline of the Year. Delegates at this year’s ITCA can be sure of great service and superb hospitality in Abu Dhabi and anticipate an entertaining Gala dinner highlighting the Mercurys Awards. Commenting on the event, Kevin Cox, Mercurys chairman said: “The judges saw 30 entries for these important industry awards and it was good to see that companies are working hard to develop new innovations and are investing in so many new products and services. Jo and Sue are looking forward to meeting you there!
