Marcia Santacruz Member of the African World Summit executive committee, ex-director of the High Council of Black Communities, Spain


As the years role on, the influence of the Spanish association El Alto Consejo de las Comunidades Negras (ACCNE) (Te High Council of Black Communities) grows ever stronger. A leading figure in the success of the organisation is former director Marcia Santacruz. Originally from Colombia, South America, Marcia emigrated to Europe to study for a Masters in public administration and ended up as an advocate for minority equal rights in Spain. Marcia focuses on establishing strategic alliances with development organisations, to strengthen the awareness of rights violations against black people in Spain. During her term as president of the ACCNE, Marcia fought to influence the Spanish government on the design of policies where race issues were concerned. In 2012 she backed the non- legislative proposal on support for African and Afro-descendants in Spain, which was successfully adopted by the Spanish Congress of Deputies.


Hans J Massaquoi Author and journalist, Germany


Hans J Massaquoi is known for his influential autobiography Destined to Witness, published in 1999, which documents his childhood growing up black in Nazi Germany. Hans turned his childhood experience into a powerful bestseller. Te book was so popular that, for months, it dominated the bestseller list in Der Spiegel: Germany’s weekly news magazine and one of Europe’s largest publications. His story was later adapted into a two-part documentary drama, which was aired on German television in 2006. Born in Hamsburg, Germany to a German mother and Liberian diplomat, Hans was one of the few mixed- race people living in Nazi Germany. Growing up he suffered as a target for racism, which later lead him to emigrate to the United States in the early 1950s. Tere he earned a degree in journalism at the University of Illinois before becoming managing editor of the popular African American magazine Ebony.


Magdi Cristiano Allam Europe of Freedom and Democracy Group MP, Italy


Egyptian-born Magdi Cristiano Allam is one of Italy’s most famous journalists. However he is best known for being one of Europe’s most charismatic political leaders. Originally from Cairo, Magdi immigrated to Italy in 1972 aſter being accused of spying for Israel. In Italy he focused on completing his studies and graduated with a degree in sociology from La Sapienza University in Rome in 1986. He began his career in journalism as a special reporter and commentator in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, from 1978 to 2003. Aſterwards he became deputy director of Italy’s oldest, largest and most recognised daily newspaper, Corriere della Sera. Magdi Cristiano was later elected a member of the European Parliament in 2009. Party member of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy Group, he is a strong defender of Islamic culture and a delegate for relations with Israel. Magdi continues to work as a politician and at present is known as one of the loudest voices in Europe speaking out in support of Israel.


Xavier Kurt Naidoo Music artist, Germany


Xavier Kurt Naidoo was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1971 and is well known as a singer-songwriter, actor and record producer. Best known for his Christian lyrics and soulful voice, Xavier’s popularity massively increased following his involvement in various charitable music projects. He is a particularly active member of the German- based, anti-racism project Brothers Keeper, which he joined in 2000. He works on collaboration albums where the proceeds are donated to the charity. In the early 1990s the soul singer moved to the United States, where he recorded and released his first, full-length English language-album, Seeing is Believing. Success followed in 1998 when Xavier picked up the MTV Europe Music Award and ECHO Award, from the German Phono-Academy (recording company), for his second, German-language album Nicht von dieser Welt (Not of this world). Te album sold more than 1m copies and topped the charts in Europe: no. 1 in Germany, no. 5 in Austria and no. 12 in Switzerland. Xavier has gone from strength to strength since his debut album, releasing his most successful album Telegramm für X (Telegram for X), in 2005, which achieved platinum status four times. In November Xavier is preparing for Together for Our Children, a charity concert at the SAP Arena in his hometown in Germany.
