Tere are few more influential people in technology than Ken Olisa. He was recently named in Computer Weekly’s UK Tech 50 list of most influential people in British IT. He was the highest placed financial adviser in the list. A believer in the Victorian ethos that successful commerce is the fuel of public service, Ken is a Freeman of the City of London; a director of the Tomson Reuters Foundation; chairman of Tames Reach (a charity working to shelter and resettle the homeless in London); founding chair of the Powerlist Foundation. He has been a regulatee of the FSA since 1993 and a Board member of IPSA, who manages MPs’ expenses, pay and pensions. Ken’s knowledge and experience of businesses, combined with his his willingness to speak his mind makes him much in demand as a public speakerd. He is also chairman of Restoration Partners, a boutique technology merchant bank he founded five years ago. On a more personal note, Ken and his wife Julia, donated £2m in 2012 to create the new Library and IT centre at Cambridge University’s Fitzwilliam College, to be named aſter the Olisas.
