Full-size paper templates for laying out roadbed
roadbed on plywood sub-roadbed. Those who prefer to use Homasote®
for
the roadbed and plywood for sub- roadbed may want to glue the prints to 4′-0″×8′-0″ sheets of Homasote, make the cuts, then trace those pieces onto the plywood.
The tools needed are simple: a pen or
two, soft pencil or marker, hobby knife, carpenter’s glue, rubber roller from the art store, spray bottle with water, a hair dryer, a straight edge, measuring tape, and a saber saw with plywood cutting blade.
At first we considered bonding the whole 4′-0″×8′-0" print to the plywood sheet with spray adhesive. However, neither of us was thrilled about getting sticky overspray in our lungs and on everything in the general vicinity. We also felt the cost of bonding all six

then use a hand-held scroll saw to cut the roadbed segment from the plywood. The glued down paper (opposite page) may have bubbles, but a mist of water and the roller will remove them.
