This view (above) shows the undersides of the gable ends attached to the head house. The author’s painting skills are in evidence as the styrene parts certainly have the appearance of wood. The outside of


the head house (above right) is covered with pieces of Campbell’s corrugated aluminum. The orange colored strips are Tesa double- sided tape, which was used to attach the siding to the styrene.


A close look at the manlift (left) will reveal the pulley at the top and the cable. Other de- tails included in the model are the wheat cleaner and Buffalo Exhaust Fan (above left) and the Richardson Automatic Shipping Scale with its support and garner (above right). The equipment was modeled using photos and field sketches as a guide. Before painting, the pieces were temporarily put in place on the top floor of the elevator (below left). Here are the pieces after painting (below right). The rod seen coming up through the floor and into a red coupling connects the crank on the first floor with the distributor, which has been temporarily removed from its perch atop the manlift in this photo. The short section of wood chute between the coupling and the storage leg is the lower portion of a return chute that sends grain that has fallen into the bottom of the distributor back to the leg.
