New from Roof to Rails AMFLEET I & II CARS

You asked and Walthers delivers with completely new Amfleet I and Amfleet II Coaches and Food Service cars in HO Scale!

To upgrade its elderly fleet of cars, some in service since the late 1940s, Amtrak took delivery of its first all-new Amfleet I cars in 1975 for inter-city service in the close clearances of the eastern US. Based on the Budd-built Metroliner, nearly 500 coach and food service cars were delivered by 1978. Starting in 1981, new Amfleet II coaches and lounges were introduced especially for long-distance trains. Both types are still in service today!

With models of four car types to choose from, including the Amfleet I 84-Seat Coach and Amcafé as well as the Amfleet II 59-SeatCoach and Lounge cars, you can easily mix and match equipment to create a custom train for your railroad, or model a specific consist for operation or display.

These sample consists include a typical San Diegan from 1976 using Amfleet I cars in Phase II colors, and The Broadway Limited from 1985 with Amfleet II equipment in the Phase III scheme; actual numbers and types of cars would vary from day to day to meet demand.
