Javad EMS Raises Efficiency with ViTrox AXI Continued from page 18

thing in between. Javad EMS believes that the V810 will contribute to the great product quality that we deliver to our customers and (will provide) a high return on investment.”

Top and Bottom Views Besides the ability to inspect

and separate the top- and bottom- side images clearly, V810’s Proprietary Auto Focus technology also enables the system to intelli- gently focus on the desired z-height without any mechanical movement from X-ray or stage. Javad also found the “Virtual Live” that provides users with the flexibility of live con- tent browsing on the board by region to be very useful for failure and defect analysis. When compared to competitive

automated X-ray inspection (AXI) equipment, Javad finds that it’s pos- sible to further enhance the system utilization time in production since it is embedded with an auto-adjust- ment feature with which the confir- mation, diagnostic and adjustment (CD&A) is run automatically without interrupting the system. Other types of AXI equipment require up to five hours of down time to make adjust- ments every few weeks in order to optimize the inspection call rate, thus affecting production usage. The

Flexibility for Growth in the Future

contract manufacturing. The future of contract electronics manufactur- ing is indeed a bright one for those who embrace change and are willing to morph themselves. They must become solution providers that add value with services and expertise to ensure that customer-designed prod- ucts meet end use expectations in the marketplace. This push of responsibilities

from OEMs to the CMs will only con- tinue to grow as companies stream- line their organizations. The days of the “traditional” OEM are numbered, as these companies change into prof- it design centers who must outsource just about everything else — the design for manufacturability and testability, warranty and reliability expectations, and sourcing and logis- tical delivery systems to the contract manufacturer. This change in busi- ness philosophy is a plus for the cus- tomer’s profitability, but if mishan- dled, could become a tremendous burden and challenge for the CM who must fulfill these additional cus- tomer requirements. To do so with- out planning can become an extraor- dinary burden for the CM. STI has put the time, energy and resources together to be considered a serious contender in the market as a partner CM for its customers today and in the future. Contact: STI Electronics Inc.,

V810 is capable of detecting many defects including shorts, opens, miss- ing components, non-wetting, bill- boards, tombstones, lifted leads, sol- der balls, voiding, insufficient solder, reversed tantalum capacitor and excess solder. It has the ability to inspect the toughest hidden joint defects commonly found on the pro- duction line such as head-in-pillow, package-on-package, PTH and vari- ous types of connector joint defects to a standard far beyond other AXI machines on the market.

Verification Tool Solution In addition, the inspection sys-

tem is coupled with the ViTrox

Verification Tool Solution (VVTS), which is equipped with SPC capabil- ity for reviewing and verifying inspection results and images with which good reference images and previously classified defect images are provided for more effective defect comparison. The company’s advanced SPC

tool, “VDSPC”, can be applied to mul- tiple lines and machines for overall defect/chart analysis. Both Javad and ViTrox believe

in close collaboration in order to pro- vide the best quality to their cus- tomers. “ViTrox and its sales channel partners have the sincere thanks from each of us at Javad EMS for

their exceptional job in the after- sales support and installation, which are just as important as the sale and performance of the equipment itself,” added Walker.
