THE EDITOR’S DESK W
e continue our celebration of our 30th anniversary with the second issue in our two part series on employee engagement. This month we feature the HR and leadership teams behind some of South Africa’s great companies; Microsoft, Accenture, Unilever, the Peninsula Beverage Company and Eliance. We hope you find these articles inspiring and informative and that they will help you in deciding the next steps for your organisation. We would like to thank the CRF Institute and Deloitte for the work that they do in developing their programmes and helping South African companies to really be the best that they can. Your people deserve great places to work in these challenging times for the business economy.
We open this issue with a look at the
reward side of employee engagement, P E Corporate Services CEO Martin Westcott once again writing for Management Today magazine, providing some very useful information into the importance of having the right remuneration pay scales.
This month Management Today magazine will be at the 8th Annual ASTD International Conference. We look forward to meeting many of our readers at this event, so please do come along to our stand for a chat and find out more about what we have planned for 2012. We are extremely excited about the Conference and are looking forward to hearing, amongst other speakers, Richard Straub and Wayne Cascio. We extend a warm South African welcome to our guests from Austria and USA respectively.
We close this issue of the magazine with an in-depth article on Leadership Excellence by Theo H Veldsman, which we know you will find both and informative and educational. You will also notice our new digital strategy taking shape – this follows the immensely successful launch of our iPad edition last year and our interactive online digital version. Both of these formats will soon contain the entire content from our past five years of magazines, so if you are a print subscriber please do send us your email address so we can activate your free access. If you are not yet a subscriber, then this is another great reason to subscribe!
We have an exciting new series of activities planned for the coming months. We have started to build and run an informed commentary on the latest topical business issues through Twitter, and we’ll be supplementing this through our Editors Blog which is coming soon. Going digital is more than about being online. For us, it is one of the ways in which we are opening up channels to engage with you in a two- way conversation. It allows us to keep abreast of, and to bring you the latest trends, research and thinking; but it also creates various platforms for you to tell us what’s happening in your business world.
