Dormehl,”What are the characteristics of an Accenture employee?”

Moses, “Accenture expects ‘high performance’ to be delivered by each and every staff member. And while we are a diverse organisation with people from all backgrounds and cultures, we share certain fundamental traits. We are entrepreneurial change agents who stretch the limits. Accenture people want to make a difference and are prepared to go the extra mile to make that happen. We are high performers who constantly strive to improve not only ourselves, but the world around us.”

Accenture works across five primary industry sectors. This results in unparalleled opportunity for career development. “We create exciting opportunities for exceptional career advancement to those who choose to join Accenture. As an Accenture employee, you are able to chart your own course and determine the speed of your progress and success. We are a company firmly set on a growth path which gives us the opportunity to offer robust prospects for career growth to those with the right focus, attitude and determination.

We have many recruitment practices, but the two that I want to highlight are our Graduate Recruitment and Employee Referral programmes.

To ensure that we hire the most appropriate

individuals for Accenture opportunities, we conduct a rigorous interview process. A recruiter may contact the graduate candidate directly to discuss your resume or CV. This may result in a first interview with a recruiter, who will want to discuss the graduate’s experiences and interests at a high level as well as provide additional information about the position and what it is like to work at Accenture. If they are selected to participate in the next stage of the process, they will be interviewed by Accenture executives. These interviews involve a more in-depth discussion of the candidate’s skills and experiences. While we are a diverse organisation with

people from all backgrounds and cultures, all our staff share a common trait: they are high performers. By extension, they associate with other high performers. Accenture needs the best people, with the right skills and capabilities, focused on helping our clients achieve high performance—people just like our staff! The Employee Referral Programme gives staff the opportunity to shape the best team for Accenture.”

Dormehl,”You use a 2 mentor system to drive culture imbedding at Accenture (a career counsellor and a ‘buddy’). How do these programmes work from a practical perspective?”

Moses, “The Career counsellors provide coaching and guidance to support counselees’ career management activities, and to help them plan for their capacity development by identifying opportunities to build skills and experience. While counselees are responsible for managing their own careers, Career Counsellors play a role in providing ongoing career coaching and guidance and they also act as an advocate for the career decisions that their counselees make.

We use the buddy system to help our new

hires integrate and assimilate to Accenture. This includes meeting the new hire on their first day, helping them to complete the Getting Started checklist, showing them the facility, inviting them for lunch, sharing hobbies/ interests and perhaps some of your personal experiences at Accenture, and to try and be a friend to the new hire.”

Dormehl. “Which unique remuneration and rewards benefits do you offer?”

Moses, “Accenture South Africa offers our employees what we call a “Total Rewards” package. In addition to basic compensation or salary, this also includes a range of other market—relevant benefits and professional growth opportunities that recognise individual contributions and performance. One of the primary benefits of belonging to a global
