This month BikeBiz has collected fresh apparel, the latest iPhone case, maps, frames, dynamo lights plus the latest custom fit shoe from Lake...

Lake CX331: Moore Large

THE ALL-new CX331 offers the first internal carbon fibre Thermaform heel counter and is Lake’s second custom fit model. Just like its predecessor the CX401, you can

heat the CX331 in a standard oven, after which the rider manually shapes the shoe around their heel for the ultimate custom fit. The CX331 features the ultra rare – but

precision fit – Boa dial closure with power zone in the forefoot and Kangaroo leather, which is lighter, stronger and more durable than your everyday standard leather.

the CX401 and a mountain bike version is available also. This MTB version retails at £249.99 with the same 100 per cent carbon fibre sole and mountain race rubber, with mud studs included too. Lake’s CX331 and its mountain bike-focused CX401 is available to the trade via Derby-based distributor Moore Large. Orange Black Gold Five: Orange Bikes

ORANGE HAS revealed a limited edition Five, subtly refined into a tasteful black and gold colourscheme. Further to the design revamp, the Black Gold

Five model, which is limited to a mere 100 bikes, will come in cheaper than the original version, retailing for £2,699.99. Factory level Fox suspension is specced up

front, with the Kashima coated RP23 and FIT RLC offering buttery smooth travel at minimum weight. The 2012 front end is matched to a Maxle swingarm, stepping up the stiffness. Avid

brakes, RaceFace cranks and a ten-speed transmission further raise this already best- selling trail bike’s credentials. The only optional extra on the Orange Black

Gold Five is the addition of a Rock Shox Reverb seatpost for quick saddle height adjustment on the move. Orange is set to have stock from February 6th available to dealers. There’s plenty more on the limited edition bike over on the official Orange site. Alternatively, give them a ring on the number above. www.orangebikes.co.uk

Exposure dynamo light: Direct to retail

THOUGH NOT QUITE in production at the time of press, Exposure has revealed that it has got a dynamo powered bike light in the brand’s production pipeline. Shown in prototype form at the London Bike Show at ExCeL in January, Exposure’s model will be available in three and four LED versions and will be compatible with the majority of hubs that are currently found on the market. Exposure tells BikeBiz that the current

prototype has handled a 24 hour event with ease, pumping out an impressive 650 lumens on

maximum output, the same as the Maxx D on medium setting. What’s more, once the rider has stopped pedalling, the light will continue to emit light at around 450 lumens for up to ten minutes. The model being showcased at the London Bike Show will not resemble the production unit, which BikeBiz was told will resemble a Diablo light size and style wise. We’ll bring you more on Exposure’s brand

new dynamo light range as we get it. www.exposurelights.com

Tank iPhone case: Direct to retail

BIKEBIZ HAS plenty of iPhone cases flagged up to us as being cyclist friendly, often with much justification – Case Mate’s Tank is an exception, however. Having been tested with hammers, it’s safe to

say the polycarbonate exterior offers fair protection against impact. The case has been designed to exceed US Military specifications for device protection, including offering coverage against sand and dust, rain and vibration. According to the firm “sixty seven per cent of breakages to iPhones are down to screen cracks,”

something which the roller shutter protects from, unlike much else on the market at present. The product was in fact designed with the principals of a motorcycle helmet in mind, primarily focused on impact resistance, with the added bonus shock absorption properties of a silicone interior. At £44.95, it’s at the more expensive end of the scale for these kind of products, but for those keen to keep things in working order the case is available in black, green/orange, black/pink and white/pink.
