Software suppliers continue to add more functions to their programs to enable hirers to run their businesses efficiently and effectively. EHN reports on some of the latest developments.


Advances in computer technology move forward at a tremendous pace, and software developers are introducing additional functionality to give hirers a greater insight into their operations and to explore additional revenue opportunities, as well as handling day-to-day paperwork.


Graham Dobbs, MD of inspHire, believes that having a good system in place has never been so important. “Given the current economic environment, businesses have to be as efficient as possible, and our latest developments enable hirers to examine their operating costs and save money, as well as maximising their revenue opportunities.


“Our CRM (customer relationship management) module has been developed as an integrated part of our software, enabling actions to be diarised and close contact maintained with clients, helping to retain business in a pro-active way. At the Executive Hire Show, we will also unveil our new hire management Dashboards, providing real-time information on many KPIs (key performance indicators) in an easy to read, graphical format. They give valuable operational information, such as the number of items on hire, those awaiting off-hire inspection, or quotes outstanding, through to analytical data such as customer activity and asset performance, month by month or year by year, for example.


“Such information can be used to set meaningful targets at corporate, departmental and individual levels. It, together with other data from a hirer’s inspHire system, can also be accessed whilst on the move via inspHire-iX, our iPhone/iPad application, which we launched at the Show last year.”


Higher Concept Software reports greater usage of mobile working solutions.


Also reporting that hirers are using their systems more pro-actively is Higher Concept Software. “People are working harder, perhaps because their businesses are employing fewer staff, and they need accurate, instant information,” said Sales & Marketing Director Katy Williams. “We ourselves are as busy as we have ever been, supplying new start-up businesses, as well as existing customers buying additional licences, which shows they are expanding.Today, more people are used to checking social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch, and are using hand-held devices to access business information.


“At the Executive Hire Show we will launch SyrinxRW (‘road warrior’), enabling hirers to access and update their Syrinx systems anytime, anywhere, using their iPad or smartphone. Sales people can review customer details while on a site, check stock availability and generate instant quotations. It also reduces the need for time consuming and error-prone form filling.”

JPoint Software is introducing a new generation of its Easi-Hire program with a user interface designed to run on handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets. “We will demonstrate this latest development on our stand at the Show,” said MD Mel Cawley. “Last year we introduced smartphone functionality for proof of delivery and signature capture, and we are now taking this a step further. Fully backwards compatible with existing installations, this new version will be a complete Easi-Hire system, enabling staff to break free from the branch counter. People working away
