We are currently sourcing equipment for a client working in Cardiff, for example we are continuing to expand our offering, and we are considering expanding our fleet to include powered access and larger minis.”


The company currently has six staff, including one of Andy and Clare’s sons, Mike. “We recently took on an apprentice,” said Andy, “and I may employ an additional plant mechanic in the near future, to take some of the pressure off me. However, I’ll never lose my enthusiasm for hiring kit and exploring new equipment.


“I’ll be getting more ideas when I visit the Executive Hire Show again in February. I will be looking at delivery vehicles and compaction plates, amongst other items. Last year I also bought a tile cutter from Red Band, who always have Show-only deals that are worth checking out. The exhibition is an ideal opportunity to see what’s new. We are currently working flat out, and so are our customers - nothing like the doom and gloom portrayed by the

national media. Our last financial year was our best ever. Near us there is a development of 600 new homes under way, and the internet retailer Amazon has just opened a massive warehouse in Rugeley, which is hiring machines from us for on-going maintenance work at the site.


“We will also be supplying equipment and consumables to contractors servicing a local power station during its biennial shutdown in the spring. So there is definitely business out there - we just make sure we are in a position to win it.”
