EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW INNOVATION ZONE continued

ARCGEN HILTA

Principal Features: Derived from the standard TL-90 9m vertical mast tower, this machine has robust LED assemblies instead of metal halide lamps, designed to give up to seven times the operating life, and 288 hours of uninterrupted 720watt illumination before refuelling. Each assembly has individual on/off switches for variable lighting options.

DEMON INTERNATIONAL

Principal Features: Combining Demon’s Hurricane pressure washer and Rotowash floor cleaner, this British manufactured machine can be used to clean flat surfaces like car parks and pavements, or as a standard pressure washer. The cleaner’s twin spinning arms rotate at 2,000rpm, and the product is available in versions giving 2,000psi and 13 litres/minute, or 2,900psi and 15 litres/minute.

GANTIC A/S

Principal Features: Addressing the high cost of charging and replacing deep cycle lead acid traction batteries in hire equipment, this unit delivers individual measured input to each battery in a pack, according to need. This avoids overcharging and saves energy. Integral de-sulphating technology is incorporated to extend overall battery life.

SMC TL-90 LED LIGHTING TOWER

Judges’ Comments: With rising fuel costs and contractors needing to meet environmental obligations, this product addresses important hire requirements. The long run time means fewer service visits are necessary, and the LED heads provide light instantly with no warm-up period needed. The panel noted that the machine is British designed and manufactured.

HURRICANE COMBI

Judges’ Comments: Hirers could offer this versatile machine to a wide range of customers in many markets, helping them to win more business. Attention to detail is impressive, like the 50mm heavy-duty skirt to eliminate the risk of spraying nearby objects, and the care taken to achieve manoeuvrability and balance. The Combi comes with a 9m hose and lance, and the handlebars on the machine fold to facilitate transportation.

GANTICHARGER

Judges’ Comments: This eco-friendly unit could save hirers’ maintenance costs by reducing the need for battery replacement, while helping preserve resources. It is claimed to extend battery life by up to three times, to reduce water consumption and prevent corrosion, and to be able to charge cells from a starting point of nearly 0V.

GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION PLANT & EQUIPMENT PRO-SCREEN PG12V-84

Principal Features: Powered by heavy-duty batteries providing up to 11 hours’ continuous use, this material screener accepts screens varying from 6 to 100mm, which can be changed in less than five minutes. The deck can be angled to suit wet or dry material and the machine can be moved on site using pallet forks or machine buckets.

THE HIRE SUPPLY COMPANY

Principal Features: This radically re-designed product has a heat resistant plastic injection moulding around a metal chassis, giving an attractive, robust unit. Swivel action enables use either upright or angled for drying paint and plaster. A patented spring mounted cradle frame protects the elements, and a deflector plate pushes heat through the front of the machine for added efficiency.

LEICA GEOSYSTEMS

Principal Features: This robust unit is designed to enable non-specialists to measure, lay out and inspect building elements accurately. Distance and angle measurements determine the position of points taken by a laser beam and digital camera, controlled via a wireless hand-held unit. It can create grids of existing layouts on floors, arches and ceilings or walls point to point.

LIFESTYLE APPLIANCES

Principal Features: The heater’s flame is enclosed by a Pyrex cylinder that retracts for storage and also gives a 360° visual effect. It can heat areas up to 3 by 3m, and the gas supply shuts off automatically if the flame extinguishes. Heat output is adjustable, and integral wheels enhance mobility. No assembly is required.

Judges’ Comments: As it does not require an electricity supply, this machine can be used in many outdoor locations, enabling users to meet on-site recycling responsibilities. It can screen materials as diverse as soil, gravel, drainage materials and aggregates, appealing to many markets for creating compost, mulch, chippings and other re-useable materials.

ELITE HEAT QUARTZ HEATER

Judges’ Comments: Great attention to hirers’ and customers’ needs is evident. The heater combines aesthetics with ruggedness, for use in diverse markets like offices, hotels and factories. Weight has been kept below 25kg for one-man lifting, and the removable back plate has no switches or wiring attached for easy service access, which will be appreciated by hirers’ workshop staff.

3D DISTO

Judges’ Comments: This sophisticated but straightforward to use product could represent a potential new market for many hirers. It enables one person to obtain detailed, accurate data quickly, which can be imported and exported to laptops and PCs via USB stick. Further measurements can be added to stored details, showing the unit’s flexibility.

SANTORINI PATIO HEATER

Judges’ Comments: Being retractable, the Santorini occupies less storage space in hirers’ premises and is less prone to damage. There are no parts to lose. Users will appreciate its quick and easy operation, and hirers could tap into demand from people planning parties to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee or to coincide with the Olympic Games in the summer months.
