Ready for the Ricoh

Hirers throughout the UK and Eire tell EHN why visiting the Executive Hire Show is so essential for their business, and why others should make sure they attend.

Mark Graham, MD, Power Quip, Liskeard, Cornwall

I really appreciate the Show, because it gives independent hirers like me the chance to see all the latest equipment from so many different suppliers in one day. We don’t see nearly so many sales reps as we once used to down here in the south west of England, and although I occasionally get invitations to dealer demonstration

days, it’s difficult to justify the time away. The exhibition enables you to see everyone’s products in one place. Amongst the exhibitors on my list to see are Belle and The Hire Supply Company, who always have some excellent deals, and I am very interested in seeing the latest diamond blades from Duro. We are also dealers for Stihl and Makita, and so I will be able to find out about their latest product developments as well.

Richard Johnson, Director, Frank Key Hire, Nottingham

Quite honestly, how else can you find out about the latest products and developments for hire, other than at the Executive Hire Show? It’s the only dedicated event for our industry, and it’s vital to keep in touch. You can’t just sit back and continue to do what you’ve always done: you have to keep developing, and so going to the Show is an absolute must. If I didn’t attend I’d feel that I had missed out and that my competitors would have gained an advantage. You can discover new products and ideas that will win more business. We opened a second depot in Somercotes, near Alfreton, just under two years ago, and we have been steadily expanding our fleet as business has developed. If we see a product that we know will appeal to our customer base, we’ll have no hesitation in buying it.

Dave Jones, Director, London Tool Hire, Canning Town

I visited the Show last year to look at the latest equipment prior to London Tool Hire’s opening in June. I bought Hilti’s TE 3000 breaker, which has proved really popular with customers, and Euro Towers’ mobile aluminium tower with their advance guard rail system. We are always keen to explore new ideas that we can profitably add to the fleet, and which set us apart from the competition, and the Show enables you to do that.

The Ricoh Arena is easy to get to, and it’s good to spend a day doing something different from the normal working routine. I’ll be having a good look at all the stands to see what’s new, especially as we plan to open a second depot in west London on 1 February.

Vincent Hurley, Proprietor, Skibbereen Tool Hire, Co Cork

The Show provides the perfect opportunity to check out new products and suppliers. As everyone knows, the construction industry in Ireland has been hit extremely hard by the economic difficulties, so I will be looking in particular at equipment that will enable us to target different markets, such as event hire. Similarly, I will be interested to see new attachments and implements that

can be fitted to existing machines in our fleet to extend their hire potential. I enjoy visiting the Show, and it makes a refreshing change from the normal working routine. I’ll fly to Birmingham from Cork and stay overnight before returning the next day, and all in all it is a very worthwhile investment of one’s time.

Willie Greig, Buyer, Martin Plant Hire I’ll be attending the Show with MD Andy Martin. It provides a great opportunity to see

what’s new in the market place, meet with suppliers and to see their latest products at first hand. It’s also invaluable for catching up with other hire professionals and gaining a sense of how our industry is faring generally. I have been looking at the Show website and there will be plenty of interest, especially

with more exhibitors to see in the new ‘Top Tier’. The Ricoh Arena’s central location makes it easy for us to get to the event from Glasgow, and I’m really looking forward to my visit.
