FOURTH ESTATE SOCIETY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION
Referring to the three traditional ruling estates in British Parliament (the clergy, the land-owning ruling class, and the common- ers), the “Fourth Estate” describes a social or political institution that is not formally recognized as such but wields considerable influence. The term is now used to describe the power and responsibility that the press and mass media have on society. The Fourth Estate Society recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more per year to the School of Communication.
