Karen J. McCulloh (BS ’94), a diver- sity and inclusion specialist and con- sultant for business and nonprofit organizations on disabilities in the labor force, was appointed by Presi- dent Barack Obama as a member of the committee for Purchase from People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled. “Ms. McCulloh was the founding Executive Director of DisabilityWorks, a project of the Chi- cagoland Chamber of Commerce, from 2005 until 2010. Ms. McCulloh was appointed by the Secretary of Labor to sit on the Job Corps Ad- visory Committee from 2006 until 2008, and she served as Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Disability. In 2003, Ms. McCulloh co-founded the National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities, served as President from 2003 to 2005, and is now serv- ing as the Immediate Past President. Ms. McCulloh also served as the Chairwoman of the Board of Direc- tors for Access Living of Metropoli- tan Chicago. She was in charge of the agency review for the Commit- tee for Purchase from People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled for the Obama-Biden Transition Team in 2008. Ms. McCulloh received an RN from the Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio.”

When Dorothy Jambrosek (BS ’98, MBA ’05) decided to donate
a kidney to a stranger, she didn’t realize that her good will would save her own life. “After undergo- ing a series of tests required to give a kidney, doctors discovered that Jambrosek had precancerous lesions in her breast that could become cancerous.” After undergo- ing treatment for her own health issues, she underwent a series of tests to determine if her kidney was still safe for her to donate. It was, and her kidney removal happened on March 4. “Her donation created a Pay-It-Forward kidney donation chain where six other people were able to receive kidneys.
Trevor G. Bechtel (MA ’99, PhD ’08) and James F. Caccamo (MA ’95, PhD ’05) have released a CD of their original music, under the band name Several, entitled The Problem with Time. Several includes Aaron Peck, Douglas A. Bowden (MA ’00) and Emily McGary Allman, wife of Mark Allman (PhD ’03). For several years in the mid-2000s, they were the house band of the theol- ogy department at Loyola. Several’s The Problem with Time combines in- fluences from the Beatles to R.E.M., from Buffalo Tom to 10,000 Maniacs, to explore the contemporary experi- ence of time.
